Adonis Georgiades argued that Greece has recorded historically high performance in tourism, noting that their image abroad is completely different from the internal criticism, while he also cited personal experience from Naxos to strengthen his argument.
The health minister said that if one follows other media or talks to people abroad, one will find that Greece is positively evaluated. At the same time, he particularly focused on the Large Week tourist traffic, noting that previous levels of occupancy are being recorded, even on islands such as Naxos.
He also pointed out the contradiction between reports that talk about negative effects of international crises on tourism and the real picture of the market, which he said shows all-time records.
In particular, he said: “If you turn on a foreign channel and listen to what they say about Greece, if you travel abroad and ask how they see Greece from the outside looking in, there is no one who will not say that Greece is doing well. The whole planet can’t have gone mad. During Holy Week you’ve lost touch with Naxos, and underneath the phase reads “the effects of the war on tourism”. And you ask him “how are things going?” and he says “I’ve never seen anything like this in my career, they don’t even fit on the deck, all-time tourism record, this Holy Week”.
