The targeting of the prosecutor of the Supreme Court is now clear, and the opposition parties are joining in with extreme toxicity.

Next month the term of the Supreme Court prosecutor, Constantine Tzavellas, who has been targeted by the opposition and various interests – inside and outside politics – because of a decision they didn’t like, expires. What has been unfolding lately is the epitome of character assassination through the half-truths that are the biggest lies.

The opposition, led by PASOK of the perpetually angry Androulakis, attacks the Supreme Court prosecutor as it does overall with officials of the Justice when they don’t like the decisions they make. And Constantine Tzavellas made this “mistake”: issuing a decision that is not liked by all those who are invested in the narrative of corruption and the deconstruction of the judiciary, but especially the government and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He is even being asked to resign while being accused of acting in collusion with the government. Even the Lawyers’ Association of Athens got into this game by creating negative impressions about the fact that lawyers – unfortunately not the vast majority of them – seeking the resignation of an officer of justice for a decision he made and who at the end of the day simply assessed the evidence and did not fall into the trap of the surrounding atmosphere and the impressions that some are trying to create.

And that was not enough. He attempted to hang himself on the pegs with half-truths and with reports that point to extreme fake news. Example, the stuff about his involvement in the wiretapping by invoking a fact. What is that? That he was supervising the EUSR and as a prosecutor was giving approval for wiretaps.

Attention. Nothing to do with illegal software. He was performing the task assigned to him. And his signatures were for legitimate backlinks. Neither illegal nor… legal. What the law and the operation of the NSA required, he did based on the relevant requests of the relevant authorities. And to sweeten the pot, it is mentioned that the backlinks he had approved were also targets of the illegal software Predator. So? So the charade began to unravel and he found himself hanging on the pegs for links to the government.

Did he understand? No one is saying anything about it. Just the familiar linking of legal liaisons to illegal software targets and the leaps of logic that form the narrative that the opposition wants to impose, especially PASOK which even went so far as to issue a statement to that effect.

A real fact – that he was a supervisor at the NIS – was used to make a link to the illegal software. A half-truth turned into a big lie to target for example anyone who does not make decisions that are not liked by the opposition, the vocal minority and projected as much as possible by external actors who only want “Mitsotakis to go away.

And that is the worst thing in a democratic country. The… message that is being sent that really reminds me of other kinds of… organizations.
