The President of the Republic, Constantine Tasoulas, participates in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, held in Herevan, Armenia.
On his arrival, Mr. Tasoulas underlined that “today’s 8th Summit of the European Political Community is taking place in Yerevan, Armenia, at a critical moment for Europe and the world. The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and in the Middle East continue to put international peace, economic development and energy security around the world at risk.”
Also, he stressed that “in this dthreatening environment, Europe, as a whole, is called upon to seek solutions that will promote unity and strategic autonomy, with a commitment to the principles of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and respect for international law“. “In this context, in today’s Summit we will have the opportunity to discuss the armouring of our common European home, our democratic institutions and our critical infrastructure from diverse hybrid threats that could put the cohesion of our societies at risk,” the President of the Republic added.
“We will exchange views on the need to strengthen the European economy, mainly through energy and technological connectivity projects. Greece, moreover, aspires to play a critical role in this area, with the development of infrastructure, such as the Direct Corridor, which will make it a hub for the import and transport of energy and other products to the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe,” he said: “I therefore look forward to constructive discussions, which will contribute to deepening cooperation and promoting peace for the benefit of all the countries of Europe and their citizens.”
Yesterday, on the first day of his visit to Yerevan, the President of the Republic attended the official dinner hosted by the President of the Republic of Armenia, Bahagn Khachaturian, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinian, in honour of the Heads of State and Government.
