The digitisation of the process for exempting tariffs and taxes on fuel for fishermen is modernising the industry by removing red tape.

The ADEA is making significant improvements and simplifications to the process of approving the right to duty-free allowances for the supply of fishing vessels by introducing a fully digital approval process through the “My Requests” application, with a decision by Governor Giorgos Pitsilis (A.1092/2026).

The new simplified and fully digitalized approval process introduces a modern, simple and transparent way of service facilitating more than 12,000 commercial fishermen.

More specifically, with the new digital process:

  • The manual approval of the Deficiency Book is completely abolished.
  • The necessary data are automatically extracted and cross-checked through the information systems of the AADE, relieving fishermen from the obligation to submit supporting documents.
  • No need to resubmit documents that are already in force.
  • The fisherman is digitally informed about the progress of his application and any deficiencies in it.

Commercial fishermen submit their application digitally from the submission of their tax return until 31 December each year, via the “My Applications” application on the myAADE digital portal (www.aade.gr), following the path Customs>Deficiency Books> Application for Digital Approval of the Fishing Vessel Duty Entitlement

After submission, the relevant decision to approve or reject the application is issued digitally through the same application.
