The Prefecture of Attica Nikos Hardalias expressed Mayor Kallithea Costas Askounis.
Mr. Askounis highlighted the crucial role of the Region in promoting important projects for the city and in the overall strengthening of local government.
Mr. Askounis, an emblematic figure of local government and the centre-left with a long career and former president of the KEDE, paid particular attention to cooperation with the Region of Attica, noting that “it is fortunate that we have a Regional Governor who has a comprehensive view of local government and helps us“, adding that “the Region is our great support“.
The Mayor of Kallithea referred to the projects implemented with the assistance of the Region to improve the daily life of citizens, with a focus on road safety and pedestrian protection. He made special reference to the installation of 42 “smart” crossings at key points of the city and in areas around school units, an action that is part of the wider planning to reduce road accidents and safer movement of students, parents and citizens.
As Mr. Askounis noted, the close cooperation between the Municipality and the Region is reflected in a wide range of interventions underway in Kallithea, with an emphasis on flood protection and infrastructure upgrades.
In this context, the construction of the 14th Kindergarten of Kallithea is progressing with financing from the Region of Attica, with a budget of 1,238,000 euros, a project that the Regional Governor inspected during his recent visit to the Municipality, noting the progress of the work.
During this visit, the two men re-emphasized the importance of cooperation between the first and second levels of government as a prerequisite for the implementation of projects with measurable results, which strengthen resilience and substantially improve the daily lives of citizens.
