The Ukraine has accused Moscow of violating the ceasefire unilaterally declared by Kiev, attacking overnight with “108 drones and three missiles”.
“This shows that Russia rejects peace and that the fake calls for a ceasefire on May 9 have nothing to do with diplomacy. Putin cares only about military parades, not about people’s lives,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha commented to X, referring to the Kremlin’s unilateral proposal for a cessation of hostilities on the occasion of the military parade to mark the end of World War II on May 9 for Moscow.
According to Ukraine’s foreign minister, “attacks continued throughout the night, followed by morning attacks on Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya.”
For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said it shot down 53 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory on the 21st.07 (Moscow time), a number significantly lower than the previous nights.
However, the time difference does not allow to confirm or deny that Kiev violated the ceasefire it declared.
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky announced a ceasefire on Monday in response to a similar proposal made by Vladimir Putin for the May 9 celebrations.
Yesterday, on the eve of the ceasefire proposed by Kiev taking effect,Russia carried out deadly attacks against Ukraine that left 28 people dead, according to an account updated today.
Reiterating the proposal for a cessation of hostilities, Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Kiev would react “in a symmetrical manner” to any violation of the ceasefire declared by Ukraine.
