A strong attack has been launched by Volodymyr Zelensky against Russian leadership, describing the limited ceasefire for “Victory Day” as an attempt at communication exploitation.

The Ukrainian president, in his latest message, denounced Moscow’s stance as “strange and inappropriate”.

Jelensky underlined the absurdity of the Russian side, which, he said, seeks to stop the war for just one hour – the duration of the Red Square parade – only to resume immediately after the killing of civilians. “They are asking for permission to walk through Red Square and then continue killing people,” he said, calling it absolute cynicism.

Zelensky recalled that Ukraine had earlier proposed its own ceasefire (from midnight on May 5-6), but which was rejected in practice by Russia with new attacks and 70 glide bombs in a matter of hours.

At the same time, he called on the United States to demonstrate the same “fair and strong stance” that it took in World War II, believing that only in this way can peace in Europe be ensured against the aggressor.

The Ukrainian leader did not fail to send a message to leaders of neighboring countries who plan to attend the May 9 celebrations in Moscow, urging them to review their stance.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry is keeping tensions high, announcing a ce a ceasefire from midnight on May 8 to May 10, but accompanying it with a blunt threat: Moscow threatened a strong strike on central Kiev if Ukraine attempted to disrupt the parade.
