Achilleas Beos has launched an attack against Maria Karystianou.
In an interview with the radio station Neo 103.3 FM, Achilleas Beos commented on information that Maria Karystianou is considering the possibility of creating a political entity, expressing his disagreement with this prospect and strongly criticizing it.
As the mayor of Volos said, in a democracy every citizen has the right to participate in the political process, noting that no one can be banned from entering the political arena. However, he made it clear that in the event of such a move, there would be corresponding political criticism.
Mr Beos maintained that he did not agree with linking political action with personal tragedy, expressing the view that such initiatives may create false impressions. At the same time, he noted that public dialogue should be based on political positions and proposals.
The mayor said specifically: “We will criticise it too. She is exploiting her child. Let her sit at home. Her child is dead and she’s in politics?With what qualifications? But in democracy that’s how it is. Good for her. You want to run, run. But don’t take advantage of your child’s death…“.
