Four accused in the case of the murder of George Moschouris have been charged prosecutions for nine felonies.
Four videos from security cameras in which two people of Albanian origin are recorded participating in preparatory actions for the murder of George Moschouris, the so-called “Thamnakia” or “crazy“, led to the arrest of three people allegedly involved in the murder of the 53-year-old who was executed outside a medical centre in April 2025.
According to officials of the Organized Crime Division, the two men were planning another murder targeting either a heavy criminal incarcerated in Korydallos Prison, or a businessman with shops in Athens and Mykonos.
The case of the murder of 53-year-old “Thamnakia” in Chalandri also involves, according to authorities, a trapper who was employed for the abduction of the son of a well-known jeweler in Ymittos in May 2025, as well as a petrol station owner who has also been arrested.
The profile of the arrested
According to police sources, two of the arrested are people of Albanian origin. Security cameras had recorded them being among the group of shooters of Giorgos Moschouris, in Egaleo, at the scene of the execution of the 53-year-old in Halandri, as well as at the spot where they set fire to the getaway car after the murder and while returning to their homes in Aspropyrgos and Haidari respectively.
Officers of the Greek FBI believe they played a role in a “support group” for the 53-year-old’s killers. In fact, one of them is said to have been an old associate of Giannis Lala, who was involved and acquitted for the murder of journalist Giorgos Karaivas in Alimos in 2021.
Yannis Lalas was executed by four people on a hotel balcony in Arachova in November 2025. In the Moshouri murder case, authorities also implicated a known trapper, who is incarcerated in prison, who was arrested by officers of the Extortion Squad. At the same time, two more people have been identified, but so far they have escaped arrest.
They were preparing a new murder – They were watching a lawyer
The Greek FBI officials had put the two individuals of Albanian nationality under surveillance for the last few months and decided to proceed with their arrest, as they found that they were preparing to murder another person. Police sources believe that their “target” was a heavy offender, incarcerated in Korydallos prison, whom they planned to kill as soon as he received a few days’ leave.
At the same time, they found that they had managed to place “hidden” cameras in the home of the baron’s lawyer, to monitor her every move, and had installed a Geolocation System (GPS) in her car. At the same time, the DEA officials are considering the possibility that the two arrested men were attempting to execute a businessman with catering outlets in Athens and the “cosmopolitan” Mykonos, as they “charge” him with a friendly relationship with the well-known baron.
The execution of “Thumnakia”
Giorgos Moschouris, to whom police sources had attributed a “leading” role in the so-called Greek Mafia, was executed with more than 50 Kalashnikov bullets, outside a private clinic in Chalandri on April 24, 2025.
The perpetrators had set up a stakeout for him and apparently knew that, although he usually walked around with people from his personal security detail, he would be alone that afternoon.
The operation, according to police sources, involved a “mixed team of hitmen” which included Albanian killers, but also two Russians, from “Edik”‘s team, who fled abroad immediately after the operation.
According to Greek police, “Edik”, who resides in Dubai, is allegedly the person who has given the order to execute the “old bunch” of the so-called Greek Mafia. It is recalled that the Greek police had arrested three more people for the murder of “Thamnakia”.
The explosion at the car show and the kidnapping
In the early hours of August 16, 2024, a powerful explosion shocked residents on Thiseos Street in Nea Erithrea. Police officers who went to the scene found that two unknown people had activated an explosive device outside a car showroom. According to police sources, in this particular attack, one of the perpetrators was a known trapper who is currently incarcerated in the jail.
This person was one of the perpetrators of the abduction of the son of a known jeweler in May 2025. The perpetrators had taken their victim to a secluded spot in Ymittos and demanded a ransom of 25,000 euros. The 24-year-old managed to escape from the perpetrators in Glyfada and immediately informed the police, who arrested the perpetrators of the kidnapping.
Severe charges for the arrested
Accused of four defendants in the George Moschouris murder case were charged with nine felonies, including homicide by malice, constitution and membership of a criminal organisation and an aggravated case of illegal carrying of firearms.
