The luxury cruise ship MV Hondius, causing alarm to the health authorities of Spain.

The arrival of that ship comes nearly a month after the death of a passenger from a rare strain of the Andesian Hantavirus.

Thankfully, so far, none of the passengers have shown symptoms of infection. However, they are all considered high-risk contacts as a precautionary measure and will undergo specialised medical checks by the Spanish authorities to establish that they remain asymptomatic.

The disembarkation was organised with strict planning. Passengers are transferred from the ship to land in small boats and then taken by sealed buses to the island’s main airport and then depart on flights to their home countries.
