The situation in Ukraine remains highly tense, despite an agreement on a temporary ceasefire brokered by US.

Ukrainian officials have spoken of continued attacks by Russian forces, with nearly 150 clashes recorded on the battlefield in just 24 hours.

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday (8/5) that the two sides had agreed to a three-day cessation of hostilities from 9 to 11 May. That agreement also includes exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war from each side, while talks on a comprehensive peace deal remain stalled.

In the Zaporizhia region, one person died and three others were wounded after Russian strikes, according to Governor Ivan Fedorov. New incidents were also recorded in Harkiv, where attacks with drones caused eight people, including two children, to be injured.

In the southern region of Herson, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said seven people were injured in attacks with drones and artillery fire. Among the wounded is a child.

Meanwhile, infrastructure damage and another child injury were reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region after new Russian attacks.

The Ukrainian Air Force claimed Russia launched 27 long-range drones overnight. According to the same update, the air defense systems managed to shoot them all down. The number of attacks is considered to be lower than in previous days, but the intensity on the fronts has not decreased.

The Ukrainian General Staff’s morning briefing reported that 147 clashes occurred along the battle line, indicating that the agreement on a temporary ceasefire remains extremely fragile.
