The narrative of two… elections that is being attempted to be set up serves the purposes of those who seek to codify.
In national elections there are not two rounds as there are in some cases in local government if a candidate fails to reach the threshold that makes them the winner, and then they are repeated between the two who come first.
The fact that two rounds were needed in 2023 does not mean that the country’s electoral system has changed. It’s just that back then Alexis Tsipras had made sure during his tenure as prime minister to bring in so-called simple proportional representation, which made it almost impossible – though it almost happened – to form a self-ruling government.
What are we saying? That the electoral battle is one. If no self-reliant government emerges and no cooperation emerges then there is a new election. From the beginning. The only difference is that the MP candidates are on a list and no crosses are needed for their election. So just like it was in 2023.
The two-election narrative serves all those who invest in a protest vote to create impressions only. For the sake of setting the mood. It was attempted in 2023, it just backfired on the scriptwriters after the citizens showed that these old party tactical terminology doesn’t work.
In national elections, whenever they are held, citizens vote for government. For the leadership of the country. For those who will take the economy, growth and further shaping the country’s geopolitical and geostrategic position to the next page.
The effort is and will be about pampering the system versus the stability that the left – to whose logic PASOK has also joined – is not an opportunity for them.
In any case, the next elections will pit two schools against each other and citizens will be called upon to judge and compare on the basis of real data and not ideological logic and false promises…
