Ukrainian is the sea drone spotted in Lefkada a few days ago, the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, in a statement coming to the meeting of defence ministers of EU member states in Brussels.
As Dendias said, “this is an extremely serious issue” that “affects the freedom and security of navigation.”
The full statement by Dendias:
“Today we will have the opportunity to discuss issues concerning the common European defence. Also, the situation that is taking shape after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the overall situation in the Middle East and how it affects Europe and European defence.
But above all, the opportunity to inform my colleagues and, with the presence via teleconference of the Ukrainian Defence Minister, about data concerning the maritime drone that we have detected in Greece. Clearly, this is a Ukrainian USV (maritime drone).
You understand that the presence of this maritime drone affects the freedom of navigation and also affects the safety of navigation. This is an extremely serious issue.”
