With the central slogan “Together for Greece 2030”, New Democracy opens from 15 to 17 May the proceedings of its 16th Ordinary Session at the Metropolitan Expo.

The conference is expected to move along two main axes: the assessment of the government’s course and the presentation of the draft for Greece of 2030, with the economy, security, welfare state, infrastructure and artificial intelligence as its peaks.

On Friday 15 May, Prime Minister and President of the New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis will deliver the keynote speech, while the opening works will be announced by the President of the Organising Committee Theodoros Roussopoulos.

The second day of the Conference, on Saturday 16 May, will include a series of political interventions by top party and European stakeholders. Among others, the director general of the New Democracy, Yannis Smyrlis, the president of the EPP Manfred Weber, the president of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, the secretary general of the parliamentary group Maximos Charakopoulos will speak, the party’s vice-presidents Kostis Hatzidakis and Adonis Georgiades, as well as the rapporteur of the New Democracy in the Constitution Revision Committee, Euripides Stylianides.

During the proceedings there will also be interventions by representatives of the European Union, the European People’s Party, the European Parliament and parties of the Greek Parliament.

Special emphasis is placed on the eight thematic sections of the Conference, on which the delegates will be placed:

  • “Social State for All – New Perspectives and Opportunities”
  • “Strong Greece”
  • “Strong Economy – Strong Greece”
  • “Greece a destination for all – Major projects & infrastructure”
  • “Modern State for all”
  • “Safe Greece”
  • “With the young people we are building the Greece of the future”
  • “2030: Greece strong, New Democracy ahead”

A special side event on artificial intelligence will be held at the conference, with the participation of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a fact that highlights the government’s effort to integrate digital transformation and new technologies into its political agenda.

The proceedings will conclude on Sunday 17 May with speeches by the secretary of the Political Committee Stelios Kontadakis, the Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the Secretary General of the European People’s Party Dolors Montserrat, the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus and of the Democratic Rally Annita Demetriou and Theodoros Roussopoulos.

The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and former President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker will also address the audience.

Before the end of the proceedings, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will address the final speech to the body of delegates, attempting to set the political tone for the next period for the government and the governing party.

Pavilions of the Konrad-Adenauer, Wilfried Martens and Hanns Seidel foundations, the European People’s Party, the Constantine Karamanlis Institute for Democracy, and two start-up companies active in the field of artificial intelligence will also be operating at the conference venue.

On the organisational level, the registration of delegates will take place on Friday from 15:00 to 18:30, the submission of nominations for the Political Committee on Saturday from 14:00 to 16:00, while the voting for the election of the Political Committee members will take place on Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00.
