From Evros he sent a message of determination for the protection of the Greek border and a response to Turkish provocations.

In a highly symbolic visit to Greek-Turkish border, the President of the Republic Constantine Tasoulas sent a strong message of national sovereignty and strategic readiness from Evros, underlining how Greece remains firm in the face of any form of challenge. From the Guardian Outpost of the Bridge of Gardens, in the presence of military and political leadership, he praised the role of the Armed Forces in guarding the borders, talked about absolute security on land and sea and made clear that the country has the determination and strength to defend its sovereign rights against challenges that, he said, disregard international law and historical reality.

The Greek-Turkish borders on land or sea are non-negotiable and Greece protects them in an absolute manner.” said the President of the Democracy and noted that “Greece is undeterred by challenges or threats, which ignore history, international law, our victories, the law of the sea, they ignore everything“.

The placement

The President of the Republic visited the Garden Bridge Guard Post, on the Greek-Turkish border and, immediately after his briefing, said “Here the climate, the wind, the atmosphere are very different and exude responsibility, pride, confidence and self-assurance. The Greek Army, the 12th Division Evros protects the borders of Greece, which have been secured for decades by other generations, which we honored this morning in the parade for the anniversary of the liberation of Alexandroupolis.

These borders, conquered in the past, are today protected by modern generations, by young Greeks, who are determinedly serving in the area of duty to the homeland, in the area of duty to the prospect of the homeland.

These borders, on land or at sea, are non-negotiable.

Greece protects them in an absolute manner and the Greek people, who have entrusted their security and protection to our Armed Forces, must feel confident and secure about their Armed Forces.

We can see this today when we are here on the Evros River, at the Guard Post of the Kipoi Bridge, on the Greek-Turkish border.

And this different air, this different atmosphere, this confidence and this self-assurance make us feel that not only the present, but also the future of Greece is in good and solid hands.

Greece undeterred by challenges or threats that ignore history, ignore international law, ignore our victories, ignore the law of the sea, ignore everything, insist on challenging us.

We, unperturbed, confident, sure and optimistic, are here steadfastly to defend our borders and to allow the Greek people to carry out their daily occupations, their profession, their daily concerns of life unconcerned by such worries. The guards have knowledge.”
