With temporary traffic restrictions, the “Historic 2026 Acropolis Rally” will take place tomorrow (24/5), as the Police Department announced a series of measures to facilitate the event and ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians in the centre of Athens.
These regulations concern specific points around the area of Akropolis, where there will be gradual interruptions to vehicle traffic during the day.
Which roads are affected by the traffic regulations
According to the authorities’ announcement, a temporary traffic closure will be in place from 10:00 in the morning until 20:00 in the evening at the Acropolis junction.
At the same time, from 15:00 to 20:00, traffic will be suspended on Robert Galli Street, in the section between Propylaia Street and Acropolis junction, within the administrative boundaries of Municipality of Athens.
The traffic interventions will be implemented gradually, depending on the needs of the event and the progress of the race.
The announcement of the EL.AS.
The EΛ.AΣ. notes that the measures are considered necessary for the smooth conduct of the race and calls on drivers to pay special attention to the instructions of the traffic police.
“there will be a gradual and temporary suspension of vehicular traffic between 10.00 and 20.00 at the junction of Acropolis and between 15.00 and 20.00 on Roberto Gali Street in the section between Propylaia Street and the junction of Acropolis, in the Municipality of Athens”.
At the same time, the Authorities address a recommendation to the public in order to avoid additional problems in the already congested traffic center of the capital.
As highlighted, “For their convenience and to avoid additional traffic problems, drivers are requested to avoid passing their vehicles at the above points during the indicated period and to follow the signals and instructions of traffic regulators.”
