The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, will receive tomorrow, Monday 18 May, in Athens the Minister of State, responsible for defence issues of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).E) Mohamed bin Mubarak bin Fadhel Al Mazrouei.
As part of the meeting between the two ministers, which is the second in a few weeks, they will discuss issues of strengthening bilateral defence cooperationthe Greece and the UN, as well as regional and international defence and security issues.
Greece and the United Arab Emirates have maintained close defence relations in recent years, which were established by the Defence Cooperation Agreement signed in 2022, through joint exercises, training activities and exchanges of visits and through the field of arms.
In particular, as stated in the agreement:
1. The two Parties shall, wherever practicable and to the extent feasible, contribute to the defence and the maintenance of the security, sovereignty, unity, protection and independence of the territory of the Hellenic Republic and the territory of the United Arab Emirates.
2. Should a threat be raised against the security, sovereignty, unity, protection or independence of the territory of the Hellenic Republic or the territory of the United Arab Emirates, the Parties shall communicate immediately on all aspects of such threat in order to take action and measures which the Parties jointly consider necessary to prevent such threat.
3.The Parties agree to establish measures in order to implement and realize this cooperation.
In addition, co-education and training (as have been done in Leopard2), exchanges of visits, etc.
