The visit is part of the Health Minister’s tours to hospitals in Northern Greece, with emphasis on interventions in infrastructure, strengthening staff and reducing waiting times.
Adonis Georgiades appeared satisfied with the image of the hospital and claimed that “huge progress has been made in recent years”.
As he said, the budget of Gennimatas General Hospital has more than doubled, from €9.5 million to almost €20 million, while both medical and nursing staff have been significantly strengthened.
The post by Georgiadis:
“From the inauguration we just had at the Gennimatas General Hospital in Thessaloniki. A hospital that I received in a real mess and which I will hand over to my successor brand new. +107% of its budget, more doctors, nurses and other staff. New ICUs, new outpatient clinics, new clinics. New fire safety system, new roof, etc. I feel proud of what we have achieved.”
