The intense smell that has upset residents of the coastal front of Attica is not from a leakage of natural gas, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office Thanasis Kontogeorgis speaking to ERTnews.
Mr. Kontogeorgis noted that there was immediate mobilization of all the competent bodies – DESFA, Natural Gas Company, Fire Brigade, Ministry of Environment, Region, Region, EVDAP- and as he said, the possibility of a gas leak was completely excluded. “It was certainly not something dangerous after all,” he said.
Referring to the votes for Investigation and Inquiry, he noted that the government will give a detailed position in the plenary session when the date of the debate is set.
On national issues, he categorically denied that the Patriots’ withdrawal was linked to a government retreat, stressing that the disposition of forces was solely by the Ministry of Defence. “The disposition of the country’s defence forces obviously has to do with the national objectives and the strategy that is being laid out at any given time,” he said.
For “Blue Homeland“, he said that even if there is a move to do so, “no legal consequence will be forthcoming”.
“We know that there will not be a stable environment of peace and prosperity in the region until these pending disputes related to EEZ and the continental shelf“, he stressed, adding that our country is “ready to be proactive and repressive“.
On the issue of fuel accuracy, he admitted that the government is concerned about international prices and the impact of the war, recalling the measures in force until the end of May-June and leaving open the possibility of new interventions, “Whatever is above will be seen in the coming days.”
On the middle class, he stressed that it remains a priority for the government and announced that the next TIF will include support measures from the prime minister.
Finally, he confirmed that elections will be held on time, in 2027, saying that the government is committed to its work and to the preparation of the Greece 2030 proposal.
