A public apology has been issued by Health Minister Adonis Georgiades to a patient who recorded the anaesthetist while he was asking her for a bag.
The health minister has asked the hospital’s management to take all legal action immediately to have the anaesthetist removed from the hospital.
In a post on X, Ad. Georgiades states:
“A short while ago I was sent an unacceptable video, which was posted on social media, of a patient who recorded an anaesthesiologist while he was asking her 100-150 euros to do what he is obliged to provide free of charge to every patient. The investigation I immediately ordered identified both the hospital and the person. I also ordered the hospital management to immediately take all legal actions to have this person removed from the NHS.
I am appalled at the envelope, an act that exploits human suffering and has nothing to do with the values we serve in the NHS. I am very sorry and apologise to the patient.”
According to reports, the doctor in question works at the Oncology Hospital of Agion Anargyroi.
