The US government is working on scenarios for new military moves against Iran, according to reports from Axios and CBS News.
These developments come at a time of heightened tension between Washington and Tehran, despite diplomatic contacts continuing behind the scenes.
The mood became even more tense after Donald Trump decided to change his schedule and remain in the White House over the weekend.
Preparations for new military strikes
According to CBS News, operational plans are being considered for new bombing of Iran even in the next few hours.
At the same time, Axios revealed that the US president had a morning meeting yesterday with close associates and security advisers on developments surrounding the war with the Islamic Republic.

Despite scenarios, by late Friday night (5/22) no final decision had been made on a new military operation, according to the same reports.
Trump’s statements on Iran
Donald Trump again appeared aggressive toward Tehran, insisting that the US has blocked Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
In a speech in Saffern, New York, he said: “We stopped them. They will never get nuclear weapons.” Shortly afterwards he added: “We will soon be done with this. It will be over soon.”
Last-minute cancellations
The US president cancelled planned travel and decided not to attend his son’s wedding either.
Meanwhile, a visit to a privately owned golf club was also cancelled, with him saying he was staying in Washington due to “government business”.
Note that The White House did not make an official comment following reports of a possible new attack.
Diplomatic contacts in the background
As military mobility increases, efforts to de-escalate continue.
The army chief of Pakistan, a country that acts as a mediator between the US and Iran, arrived in Tehran for contacts with the Iranian leadership.
His presence is considered particularly important as Pakistan maintains open channels of communication with both sides.
Situation in the Middle East is fragile
Since the ceasefire of 8 April, Trump has several times sent different messages about whether there will be new military action.
He has repeatedly threatened new operations against Iran, but to date has not launched a new attack.
However, the latest reports of possible bombings are again raising concerns about a new escalation in the Middle East.
