Repeated sterile and counterproductive “anti-Metschotacticism” is not a proposition, notes, among other things, in an article in Liberal.gr, journalist Aris Portosalte.
A detailed article by Aris Portosalte is as follows:
It is an applicable policy, which the Mitsotakis government is following. Minister Nikos Dendias‘s disagreement seems to be his personal opinion. His right apparently. But as the person who has the political responsibility of the Defence portfolio in the Mitsotakis government, he also adheres to the government line being followed. Otherwise, his refusal would become a substantial breach.
It is interesting, however, that it was made publicly. Minister Dendias has made no secret of his preference for stigmatising Turkey’s aggressive tactics, even at home in Ankara. And the other day, being in the surroundings of a conference organized by EU. Venizelos, saw a window of opportunity to join his voice with those “searching” against Mitsotakis…
The duration of the period of calm waters does not only depend on Greece. It also requires the agreement of Turkey. It takes little wisdom to realize that the “regime” of calm would be beneficial for both states. On the other hand, it is naive to believe that Athens has the power to determine the “psychoneurotics” of its neighbors. I find it impossible to think of an intelligent politician and fellow citizen who would fantasize about “troubled waters” in the Aegean.
Or should I imagine him, vying for votes in an environment of extreme populism!..
Explain how it is that the PM is being accused of “intolerance” towards Turkey and more extreme “treason” by foreign minister, and at the same time, at the same time, an underlying secret, unstated, of course, admiration for President Erdogan, that he is supposedly “humiliating” Mitsotakis internationally, when Turkey is in obvious nervous crisis from the wrong choices and tactics of its president, but mainly because of Greece’s upgraded position, the result of its strategic cooperation with Israel and Cyprus, following the renewal of the alliance with France?
The policy of a strategic relationship with Israel is not only causing a frenzy of nationalism in Turkey, which has become obsessed with the complacency that Greece is under “siege” along with Israel and Cyprus. But here too, internally, it produces envious attitudes…
Is it right to interpret politicians in terms of psychology? Wrong, of course. How can we justify not hearing substantive arguments from opponents who express vehement dislike for the prime minister? And yet, instead of luring us with appealing positions and proposals, they irritatingly sour on childish arguments, such as “if Mitsotakis would tell us who would answer an emergency phone call”, meaning leaders of superpowers, other countries or the European Union, where of course everyone would talk to him…
Let’s say we’re thinking of denying Mitsotakis a third four-year term. What exactly are the proposals and concrete solutions to the problems of those who covet Mitsotakis, on which the 40% of society, which wants normality and stability, can be based? Repeated sterile and counterproductive “anti-Mitsotakism” is not a suggestion.
So, I would like to put to political analysts, communicators and strategic planning experts, a hypothetical exercise:
“I have served as prime minister in the recent past, I have contributed to the country as deputy prime minister and now I ardently want to come back! How can I oppose and “bring down” Mitsotakis without using arguments of populism and airs and graces?“.
Awaiting answers…
