The developments surrounding Antonis Samaras and Alexis Tsipras were commented on by Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, on Parapolitika 90.1.
Specifically, after the statements of the Deputy Foreign Minister, Kharis Theocharis, and the characterization “far-right” that he attributed to Antonis Samaras, Georgiadis took the former to task for his talk of the far-right, saying: “I like to think he said it inadvertently about Samaras“. Georgiades also sent the following message: “First and foremost the party“.
“Mr Samaras is not a right-wing extremist, he was the president of the New Democracy,” the minister said at another point, while on the possibility of a party being formed by Mr Samaras, he said he could not know and that if “he forms a party, I think it is a big mistake for one main reason, above all the people is the party. ND is above faces. The ND is the party of Constantine Karamanlis“.
“The former presidents of the New Democracy party deserve respect,” he also noted.
As for Alexis Tsipras and the rebranding with the new ELAS party, he said: “I admit Tsipras. He had it planned, he peeled them all like eggs, we’ll see which of the MPs he gets.”
“Awesome rebranding, it’s the rebranding of the century. I give Tsipras credit,” he commented.
As he said, “Tsipras appears with the ELA party, he gets 15.5% in the polls, various people say every day “very big success Tsipras gets 15.5%” when in ’23 he got 17.5% and it was a failure.”
In this way, as Georgiadis said, “Tsipras said I will no longer be compared with the 17% or the 33% of SYRIZA, I will be compared with 0. This really is rebranding. I congratulate him.”
Commenting on the upheavals caused by Tsipras’ return with a new political “vehicle”, Georgiades noted that it was a choice that the former prime minister “had obviously planned from the beginning.”
