A new incident targeting a referee from Stoiximan GBL was reported in the early hours of Saturday (6/13) in Messini.
According to reports, at around 2:00 a.m., individuals with their faces covered were found outside the home of Yiannis Tsibouris and wrote slogans on the exterior walls and on the door of his residence.
The referee filed a complaint with the police in Kalamata, expressing fears for both his own safety and that of his family.
As the Messini Police Department specifically reports, “abusive slogans were written on the door of his home and on an exterior wall.”
A case file is being compiled against unknown perpetrators for the offenses of verbal abuse, damage to private property, and violation of sports legislation. The Messini Police Department is conducting the preliminary investigation.
Yiannis Tsibouris was one of the referees assigned to the Stoiximan GBL between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos AKTOR, having officiated the first and third finals of the series.
This new incident comes just a few days after the case involving referee Vaso Tsaroucha, when unknown individuals on motorcycles appeared outside her home, sparking a new round of discussions about the tension and pressure prevailing in Greek basketball.
