U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to put on the agenda of the upcoming G7 Summit plans for the demining of the Strait of Hormuz, as expectations grow for an agreement with Iran.

Interest from Britain and France

According to a senior U.S. government official, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity, the U.S. president seeks to discuss with his allies the future of the strategically important waterway of the Strait of Hormuz.

Britain and France, which are members of the G7, have already expressed interest in contributing to mine clearance operations once the conflict in the region comes to an end.

Meetings with Arab leaders and Zelensky

On the sidelines of the summit, Donald Trump is planning meetings with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, with the main focus being efforts to end the war in Iran.

Meanwhile, the U.S. president is expected to participate in a working meeting with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The G7 Summit begins Monday in France.
