Work is proceeding at a rapid pace on the Metro in Athens, as track replacement work has been completed on the Sepolia – Dafni section of Line 2.
The work began in November 2025 and was completed on June 11. During this period, 21.6 kilometers of track were replaced, while approximately 1,300 welds were performed and ultrasonic inspections were conducted.
Consequently, starting Monday, June 15, the works will move to Line 3 and specifically to the Panormou – Nomismatokopio section. To accommodate the work, nighttime traffic arrangements will be in effect from Sunday (6/14) through Thursday (6/18).
Metro: Which stations will close earlier
The stations Panormou, Katechaki, Ethniki Amuna, Holargos and Nomismatokopio will cease operations at 9:40 p.m., approximately two and a half hours before the end of regular service.
During the maintenance work, trains on Line 3 will operate on the following sections:
- Municipal Theater – Ambelokipi
- Agia Paraskevi – Doukissis Plakentias – Airport
The last trains before station closures will depart:
- from Municipal Theater to Doukissis Plakentias at 8:55 PM
- from Syntagma to Doukissis Plakentias at 9:21 p.m.
- from Ampelokipoi to Doukissis Plakentias at 9:25 PM
- from Panormou at 9:27 PM
- from Katechaki at 9:29 PM
- from Ethniki Amuna at 9:31 PM
- from Cholargos at 9:33 PM
- from Mint at 9:35 PM
Similarly, to Municipal Theater:
- from Doukissis Plakentias at 9:23 PM
- from Agia Paraskevi at 9:27 PM
- from Mint at 9:28 PM
- from Holargos at 9:30 PM

Airport
The latest trains:
- from Syntagma to Airport will depart at 8:55 PM
- from Municipal Theater to Airport at 8:30 PM
- from Airport to Municipal Theater at 8:34 PM
After 9:40 PM, trains to Airport will depart from Agia Paraskevi station, while trains from the Airport will also terminate at Agia Paraskevi.
Departures from Agia Paraskevi to Airport will take place at 21:44, 22:21, 22:57, and 23:33.
From Airport to Agia Paraskevi, departures will be at 21:10, 21:46, 10:22 PM, 10:58 PM, and 11:34 PM.
The temporary bus line X20 is coming
To serve passengers, OASA is activating the temporary bus line X20 “Ampelokipoi Metro Station – Halandri Metro Station”.
The line will operate from Sunday through Thursday, from 9:40 PM until the end of Metro service.
