The narrative that wants the leaders of the Left to be close to the problems of citizens, is probably not going anywhere.

If there is one thing the leaders of the Left-wing parties—and, more broadly, of the opposition is a so-called populist profile. That they stand with the people and, of course, that they represent them— whether they like it or not. If there is also anything worth analyzing in the polls it is the specific data recorded and derived from citizens’ responses.

For example, Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains, by a wide margin, the most suitable candidate for prime minister, with citizens recognizing his leadership in crisis management and problem-solving combined with the fact that he has a program which he is implementing in both the economy and security, both within and outside Greece.

The Alco poll presented on Alpha TV’s main news broadcast reveals another interesting finding based on a question regarding societal problems. The question is “which political leader do you think best understands society’s problems,” and the answer debunks the narrative of the self-proclaimed “spokespersons” of the people.

Specifically, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is considered the leader who best understands society’s problems by 22%. He is followed by Alexis Tsipras with 12%, and in third place is Nikos Androulakis with 7%.

This is a sign that those who appear to speak in the name of the people and identify themselves as their true representatives are probably mistaken. Just as those who attempt to present themselves as children of the people to show that they understand the problems faced by the people.

This also indicates that the promotion of measures related to social cohesion is having an impact.
