Rise of the new far-right party “National Future” as shown by the latest polls on voting intentions in Italy.
More specifically, according to the poll by the company Swg, which was conducted on behalf of the private channel La7, General Roberto Vanacci’s “National Future” (whose founding convention took place last weekend) garners, in Italians’ voting intentions, a 5.3% share .
The main policy positions of this new partyinclude mass deportations of undocumented immigrants,restrictions on the rights of many immigrants with work permits, the abolition of the crime of femicide and the view that members of the LGBTQ+ community should not enjoy any special legal protection. At this stage, General Vanacci’s new party has chosen not to support the government in Rome.
As for the parties of the conservative coalition, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni remains the country’s leading political force, with a share of 27.9%. “Forza Italia” , led by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, is chosen by 7.2% of respondents, while Matteo Salvini’s League (from which many National Future leaders hail) slips to 5.3%.
As for the opposition, the Democratic Party , led by Elly Schlein and polling at 22.1%, is once again in the lead by a wide margin. The “Five Star Movement” of former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte stands at 13.3%, while the Italian Left and the Greens “convince” 6.5% of the statistical sample.
Next are the small centrist parties “Azione” (Azione) with 3.1% and “Viva Italia” led by former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi with 2.4%. The radicals of the “More Europe” party secure 1.6% of the vote.
