Meeting of the President of the Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis with the Hellenic Thoracic Society today at the Parliament, on prevention, spirometry, and public health.

The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis welcomed members of the Respiratory Disease Prevention Unit of the Hellenic Thoracic Society (HTS), who conducted tests for spirometry and awareness-raising activities for Parliament employees, following an initiative by the Parliament Employees’ Association.

The Charter on Respiratory Health

During the meeting, members of EPE briefed Mr. Kaklamanis on the Charter “5+1 Axes” , which was drafted to mark the 60th anniversary of the Society’s founding. The Speaker of the House signed the Charter on behalf of the Hellenic Parliament, supporting the effort to inform and raise public awareness regarding critical issues public health issues related to the respiratory system.

The “5+1 pillars” of the Charter focus on raising awareness among health stakeholders, on environment and respiratory health, on early diagnosis of lung cancer, to tobacco products, to vaccinations and obesity.

Message of Support for Prevention – Public Health

Mr. Kaklamanis congratulated the members of the Hellenic Thoracic Society, as well as the executive committee of the Parliamentary Employees’ Association, for today’s awareness campaign. At the same time, he emphasized that he would stand by them in their efforts to promote prevention, public awareness, and the protection of public health.
