The spokesperson for the European Commission on defense issues, Thomas Renier, referred to Greece’s signing of the SAFE program, emphasizing that the country is now part of the European defense funding mechanism.

“I can confirm that an agreement with Greece under SAFE and that the 700 million euros will be allocated to the program,” Mr. Renier stated. As he noted, agreements/a> with Poland, Lithuania, Croatia, Romania, Belgium, and Cyprus. 

The spokesperson for the European Commission, according to ERT, revealed that France is also expected to sign on Wednesday (June 17), following the other countries participating in the program.

“With France’s signature , another important phase of SAFE will be completed,” he said, emphasizing that work in the defense sector is progressing rapidly, which he described as “vital for supporting the EU’s defense industry”.
