The military power of the U.S. in Iran served as a lever for diplomatic pressure and a warning to Russia regarding Ukraine.

In an international environment of heightened geopolitical tension, where the balance of power is constantly redefining the boundaries of diplomacy, Berlin is repositioning itself strategically along the Washington–Moscow–Tehran axis, with Friedrich Merz putting forward a realistic interpretation of deterrence, according to which military superiority functions not only as a tool of pressure but also as a catalyst for political solutions on open fronts such as Iran and Ukraine.

The German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, stated from France, where he is attending the G7 Summit, that the overwhelming military superiority of the U.S. did not leave Iran any real room for maneuver and essentially served as a catalyst for the emerging diplomatic solution.

In fact, as he revealed, he personally conveyed this view to Donald Trump, citing the U.S. stance as an example that could also be applied to the case of Ukraine. The German chancellor thus made sure to confirm once again (following the gift of the German national team jersey) that, when Trump speaks, he himself never misses an opportunity to agree and express it as enthusiastically as possible.
