The Attica Region is funding the extension of a cycle path in Vrilissia with €1.37 million.
The programme contract for the redevelopment and extension of the existing cycle path on 25th March Street in Vrilissia, worth €1.37 million, has been signed by the Attica Region. euros plus VAT, signed by the regional governor of Attica Nikos Hardalias together with the mayor of Vrilissia Yannis Pisimisis and the president of “New Metropolitan Attica S.A.” Dimitris Fragakis, at the Administrative Building of the Region.
As part of the project, extensive redevelopment works will be carried out on a 730-meter-long section of 25th March and a total area of 11.7 acres, in a high-traffic area near the Suburban Railway station and the city’s central square. In particular, the road surface will be completely reconstructed with new asphalt paving, signage, sidewalks with “guides” for the blind and rainwater manholes, while a special 2-meter wide zone will be created along the entire length of the works exclusively for bicycle and pedestrian traffic. At the same time, trees and shrubs will be planted in flower beds with the installation of an irrigation system, while parking spaces will be demarcated alongside the road.

In the Municipality of Vrilissia, the total number of projects underway or being launched by the Region of Attica reaches €15.5 million, reflecting our willingness to invest in infrastructure that enhances the safety, resilience and quality of life of our citizens.
In this context, critical flood control projects in the area of Patima, road network upgrading interventions, as well as projects to improve and modernize school and municipal infrastructure are moving forward. This is a coherent matrix of actions that responds to chronic needs of the local community and creates the conditions for a more functional and sustainable city.

For his part, Mr. Pisis said: “The extension of the bicycle path on 25th March, a major project for our city, is now on track for implementation following the signing of the programmatic agreement between the Municipality of Vrilissia and the Region of Attica. We are very happy because our city will have an infrastructure project through which a coherent network of cycle paths will be created that will run through the urban fabric of Vrilissia, so that we can really give a very tangible boost to alternative, sustainable mobility within the city. The signing of the contract was attended by the General Director of “Nea Metropolitiki Attica S.A.”Efi Filioupulo and the Director of Development Planning of the Region Mari Miska.
