“We are not preparing at all for elections,” said the New Democracy spokesperson, Alexandra Sdoukou, reiterating that the elections will take place at the end of the four-year term.
“From the very first day he was elected, Mr. Mitsotakis has been touring the country. It is part of the culture of both the prime minister and our party to tour every corner of Greece,” emphasized Al. Sdoukou in response to a comment regarding the activities of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
She explained why the elections will be held “at the end of the term, in the spring of 2027,” she emphasized that the government’s goal is “to wrap up all the pending issues from our government program.”
“This is important to us because it demonstrates reliability. You will see many projects being completed. We have many inaugurations to hold,” she emphasized.
For Samaras’s party
“I can cite numerous statements by New Democracy officials and top government ministers, all of whom have more or less expressed respect for the former prime minister. And Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself has done the same,” Ms. Sdoukou emphasized in response to a question about what would happen if Antonis Samaras were to found a new party.
She also emphasized that “the intentions of all those who spoke positively about the former prime minister” are “sincere,” she added that “he is a former prime minister with nearly half a century of political experience. I believe he will weigh his options and do what he considers right in his own conscience.”
Taxation on dividends
“With a 5% tax on dividends, we generate by far the most tax revenue,”, emphasized the New Democracy spokesperson in response to the relevant criticism from the opposition.
She also pointed out that “when we had a 10% tax on dividends, we collected 173 million euros. With a 5% tax, we collect 386 million euros”
