The statement by the respected journalist Aris Portosalte, who commented on the statements made by Nikos Androulakis regarding the cartels that, as the opposition claims, influence the market and reinforce high prices.
The journalist wondered what exactly PASOK is proposing to address the problem, noting that references to “cartels” remain vague when not accompanied by specific evidence.
“What will Androulakis do about the cartels? First of all, he needs to name them, because he says that cartels are running the government. Which cartels are they?” he remarked pointedly.

Continuing his criticism, Aris Portosalte argued that public debate cannot be limited to general accusations without specific policy proposals.
“Mr. Androulakis, what will you do to tackle these specific cartels, once you’ve named them? In general and vague terms—‘we have cartels, we have powerful interests, we have this and that’—the opposition will just be spouting nonsense,” he said, escalating the political confrontation.
