Workis continuing apace on the Metro extension to Kalamaria, according to the Deputy Minister of State for Infrastructure and Transport, Nikos Tachiaos.
As he stressed among other things in his statements about the timetable, it is important that all procedures in Pontou proceed immediately and that work begins before the delivery of the Metro, so that a change can slowly be seen in Kalamaria.
As to when the extension to Kalamaria will take place, Tachiaos did not give a timeframe, but clarified that in the next few weeks he will be able to give a specific timeframe.
The issue, however, which seems to be holding up the whole process is thata separate branch, that of Kalamaria, has to be delivered while the central branch from New Switzerland to the Railway Station is operating, which is proving more difficult than originally planned.
