Andy Burnham, announced that he will be a candidate in the succession of Keir Starmer for the leadership of the Labour Party in Britain.
In a statement, Bernham paid tribute to the outgoing leader of party, noting that Starmer has rendered significant services to the country and led the party through a particularly challenging period.
“Kir has contributed a great deal to our country, and I want to thank him for his leadership, commitment, and dedication during an extremely difficult time,” he said.
He emphasized that Starmer’s decision marks the beginning of a transitional period for the party, stressing the need for the succession process to be conducted in an orderly, responsible, and institutional manner.
“I will run for the leadership as part of this process,” he said, officially confirming his intention to seek the leadership of the Labour Party.
