As announced by the Fire Department, fire services in Attica and Central Greece have been placed on general alert. In addition, firefighting forces remain fully deployed on all three fronts, while the situation is being continuously monitored by the National Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management.
Specifically, according to a report from the Fire Department, the fire that broke out in low vegetation in Spata, Attica, is subsiding. 120 firefighters are on the scene with 4 teams of foot patrols from the 1st EMODE and 35 vehicles, while 4 helicopters and 2 aircraft are operating from the air, with the assistance of volunteers and local government water tankers. In addition, a warning message was issued by 112, urging residents of the wider area to remain on alert.
At the same time, a fire broke out in a forested area in the Akraifnio region of Boeotia. To extinguish it, 63 firefighters were mobilized, along with 2 ground crews and 21 vehicles, while 10 aircraft and 2 helicopters are operating from the air, one of which is coordinating their efforts. A 112 warning message was issued a short while ago.
Finally, in the Eleonas area of the Municipality of Thebes , a fire broke out in an agricultural area. Thirty-seven firefighters, along with two teams of ground crews and 11 vehicles, are working to contain it, while two aircraft and one helicopter are operating from the air. Local government water tankers are providing assistance.
It should be noted that, according to a statement from the Fire Service, teams from the Arson Crimes Investigation Directorate (DAEE) have been dispatched to the fire sites to investigate the causes. Finally, as emphasized by the Fire Department, citizens are urged to follow the instructions of the competent authorities and exercise extreme caution due to the increased fire-prone weather conditions.
