An alarm was sounded at the Fire Department on Monday evening (6/22) following a fire that broke out in the area of Keratea.
Late on Monday night, an alarm was raised at the Fire Department regarding an fire in low vegetation in the wider area of Keratea, with the flames located near major roads in Eastern Attica and triggering an immediate and extensive mobilization of ground forces. Dozens of firefighters are operating at the scene with vehicles and a foot patrol, while the firefighting operation is proceeding under difficult conditions due to the terrain and the combustible material, with the goal of immediately containing the fire front and preventing its spread toward residential areas.
According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out shortly before 10:00 p.m. between Zapani, Keratea and Avrokastro, near Lavrio Avenue, burning low vegetation.
Significant firefighting forces are rushing to the scene specifically 61 firefighters with a foot patrol team and 25 vehicles.
