Tour by Eirini Agapidaki in Imathia and a message about prevention in every corner of the country.

As part of the scheduled tours by government officials throughout the country, Deputy Minister of Health, Eirini Agapidakis, made consecutive visits to the Regional Health Centers in Fytia, Arkohori, and Angelohori in the Prefecture of Imathia, where Mobile Health Teams conducted free preventive screenings and provided health services at fixed locations, at the Regional Clinics, at the local clinics in these areas, as well as through home visits.

The purpose of the visit was to personally oversee the activities carried out by the Mobile Health Teams (KOMY), as well as direct communication with citizens regarding the large-scale program of free preventive screenings that is currently in full swing. It is worth noting that, as part of the screenings, many cases of residents with diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases that had not been previously diagnosed were identified.

Eirini Agapidakis had the opportunity to speak with residents of these areas, listen to their needs, and inform them about the importance of prevention and pre-symptomatic screening, which now goes “door-to-door” even in the most remote communities and emphasized that:

For us, health doesn’t start at the hospital. It begins with prevention, with the daily lives of citizens in villages and rural areas. With the Mobile Health Teams, we are breaking down isolation and bringing the government closer to the people. We don’t wait for someone to get sick to take care of them; we go to them, offering free preventive screenings for serious diseases.

Our message is clear: No citizen is on their own, no matter how far they live from major urban centers. Prevention saves lives and is everyone’s right.”

During her meetings with the medical and nursing staff at the Regional Health Centers, the Deputy Minister praised their work and emphasized that the government is steadily implementing the strategic plan to upgrade Primary Health Care, not only by strengthening the existing workforce but also by investing in prevention as the cornerstone of a sustainable and people-centered health system.

Throughout this period, nearly 50,000 citizens have benefited from their efforts, while over 12,000 people have received healthcare in their homes. Our fellow citizens who are unable to travel now have the option to call 1135 and request free in-home services.
