Kostas Bakogiannis, while condemned the action that took place with slogans outside the home of Regional Governor Nikos Chardalias.

The former mayor of Athens and leader of the “Athens Up” faction, specifically stated:

“Political debate is necessary. However, targeting people and families in their homes has no place in our democracy.

I unequivocally condemn the attack against Nikos Chardalias. No asterisks or footnotes. No “however” or “but.” Violence, intimidation, and the spillover of political conflict into private life are not forms of protest; they undermine democratic dialogue.

We can and must disagree vehemently. But the boundaries are clear. Democracy requires respect for people, not only when we agree with them but especially when we disagree with them.”
