The President of EBEA, Yannis Bratakos, met with the Ambassador of Lebanon to Greece, Mr. Kenj El Hajal, to discuss strengthening economic and business relations between Greece and Lebanon.

Also participating in the meeting was Mr. Bassam Azar, Member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Export Department of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

During the meeting, the prospects for further developing cooperation between the business communities of the two countries were discussed, with an emphasis on the sectors of trade, food, energy, infrastructure, health, the pharmaceutical industry, and port services.

Special mention was made of the importance of the Lebanese business community active in Greece, which can serve as a bridge for exchange of know-how, and development of new partnerships.

The Lebanese Ambassador referred to the potential of the Lebanese economy, the role of human capital and the Lebanese diaspora, as well as the need to strengthen communication channels between Greek and Lebanese businesses. At the same time, it was emphasized that, despite the challenges facing the broader region, there is significant scope for promoting mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

For his part, the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Mr. Yannis Bratakos, stated:

“In a period of heightened challenges, economic cooperation can serve as a stable foundation for dialogue, innovation, and mutual benefit. The Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) consistently supports the international expansion of Greek businesses and the development of new channels of cooperation with dynamic and promising markets. In this context, we are ready to contribute to strengthening ties between the business communities of Greece and Lebanon, by capitalizing on opportunities in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, food, health, and services.”

The meeting took place in a particularly positive atmosphere, with a shared desire to strengthen the economic and business ties between the two countries and to explore new opportunities for cooperation in the coming period.
