He passed away today at the age of 77, journalist Ioannis Amanatidis (son of Michael), due to health issues he had been facing recently.

Ioannis Amanatidis was born in Protochori, Kozani, in 1949. After completing high school and his military service, he began his career in journalism at the newspaper “Vradini” in 1974, working on content editing and layout for the sports section.

At the same time, he worked at ERT, where he served as News Director for several years during the 1980s. His career in the print media continued at the newspapers “KERDOS,” “24 ORES,” “EPIKAIROTITA,” “ETHNOS,” “VIMA,” and “KYRIAKATIKI AKROPOLIS,” and he served as Editor-in-Chief at “ELEFTHEROS TYPOS,” Director of the newspaper “CHORA” as well as the radio station “FLASH.”

Yannis Amanatidis served journalism in many positions of responsibility and was distinguished for his professional integrity and dedication to the news. Gracious, approachable, always cheerful and collegial, he leaves the best impressions on all the colleagues who worked with him.

The Board of Directors of ESIEA extends its condolences to his loved ones and his only daughter, Xenia, and bids a deeply sorrowful farewell to this exceptional colleague.

It is the family’s wish that Yannis Amanatidis’s funeral be held in a private family ceremony.
