A threefold positive message—financial, energy-related, and beneficial for consumers has resulted from the successful share capital increase of ADMIE, as noted by Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou.
Speaking today at the opening ceremony of the session of the Athens Stock Exchange, on the occasion of the listing of the new shares of the Administrator, he emphasized that “there will be enormous benefits for citizens, with savings of 1 billion euros per year and, at the same time, an improvement in the quality of the tourism product”.
“From a financial standpoint, beyond the oversubscription, there is also the qualitative aspect, as we have the largest investment firms expressing their confidence, and that speaks volumes. At the same time, there is also an energy dimension. ADMIE is the backbone of the energy system. Without strong grids, we have no energy security and cannot fulfill our role as an energy hub,” he added.
The CEO of Euronext Athens, Giannos Kontopoulos, emphasized that over the past month, 5,3 billion euros were raised on the stock exchange with impressive oversubscriptions, and that the capital market can contribute to further strengthening the economy.
The chairman and CEO of the holding company, Yannis Karabelas, spoke of a sensational day, as well as for the recognition by investors of both the project that has been completed and the Operator’s new business plan.
The Chairman and CEO of ADMIE, Manos Manousakis, thanked political leaders, employees, the regulatory authorities, the banks, and the investors, and emphasized: “We will honor this trust and continue to support economic growth and the energy transition.”
Eurobank CEO Fokion Karaviasstressed that more important than the capital increase is the investment plan that will follow, which the banks will support.
Finally, Vasiliki Lazarakou, Chair of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission pointed out that ADMIE’s capital increase demonstrates that the Capital Market Commission effectively supports companies that are making strategic investments with a broader impact on the economy. “The oversubscription by leading international funds shows that the market is on the radar of major foreign investors. Every successful initial public offering is a sign of market maturity and a boost to market confidence,” he concluded.
