The tension being registered between Donald Trump and Papa Leo was reported by journalist and analyst Michalis Ignatiou, taking a stand in favor of the American president’s statements.
As he argued, Donald Trump “said what we are all thinking“, acknowledging the Pope’s right to freely express his views, but noting that he should – in his view – have taken a clearer position on the regime in Iran.
He referred to serious issues related to the condition in Iran, arguing that there has been insufficient public reaction from international actors.
“The Pope should have had a word,” he said, stressing the need – as he sees it – for a clearer stance on international security issues.
