Nikos Karanikas launches a fierce attack on Alexis Tsipras following his interview, questioning his credibility and political aspirations.
In a particularly scathing post on Facebook, Nikos Karanikas commented on the interview given by Alexis Tsipras to journalist Antonis Stroiter, whom he described “one of the most civilized, distinguished, and capable journalists.”
In his post, he argues that, following this particular appearance, the former prime minister has definitively distanced himself from Left, while appearing to express a “SYRIZA 2023,” seeking, as he states, solely a return to governing and the privileges of power.
Fierce criticism from Karanikas: “A ‘car party’ and leaders lacking credibility”
Karanikas describes Alexis Tsipras “tragicomic,” arguing that his policy proposals lack both merit and credibility. At the same time, he speaks of a “IX party,” claiming that it has gathered officials who, as he states, are interested only in power, even though until recently they were launching fierce attacks against him. In fact, he notes that he himself is “ruthless,” but is surrounded by a “court of buffoons.”
References to Vaxevanis and Kasselakis — “The moral high ground is gone”
Continuing his post, Nikos Karanikas argues that Alexis Tsipras lost his credibility following the allegations made by Kostas Vaxevanis, while also referring to internal party developments surrounding Stefanos Kasselakis.
Specifically, he argues that initially the former prime minister had no problem with Kasselakis, but after the allegations of “black money” at Koumoundourou, party officials sided with him, leading—according to him—to the “coup” to oust the then-president and to the “fraudulent congress.” He further adds that this was preceded by what he characterizes as a failed attempt to oust Kasselakis, when the delegates, according to him, unanimously rejected the relevant motion.
In closing, Karanikas argues that the “moral high ground” for Alexis Tsipras and his “IX Party” has now been lost for good, citing an image of decline and political discredit.
