The implementation of an extensive infrastructure program is underway across the country. This project aims to strengthen Greece’s geostrategic role and improve key networks.
As the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas said, the country is going through a period of intense construction activity. And projects are acting as a lever for economic recovery and sustainable development. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the modernisation of existing networks and the creation of new ones.
The European connectivity corridors play an important role. Greece is an active participant in the Baltic-Black Sea-Aegean corridor and the Western Balkans-Eastern Mediterranean corridor. This infrastructure is not only related to transport but also extends to sectors such as energy, security and supply chain.
At the same time, major projects such as the E65, the BoAK and the new Castelli Airport are progressing. These interventions enhance connectivity and boost regional development. At the same time, it creates new opportunities for investment and business activity.
A key issue is financing. For 2026, resources of €2.36 billion have been earmarked. The use of funds from Greece and the EU, combined with SIPs, accelerates the implementation of the projects.
The engineering sector is also of particular importance. The quality of studies directly affects costs and schedules, while Greek technical knowledge strengthens its position abroad.
At the same time, the digital transformation in the construction sector is progressing. The use of BIM improves design, reduces errors and enhances transparency.
The next phase of projects is based on collaboration, innovation and better use of available resources, with infrastructure remaining at the heart of the country’s development strategy.
