Giorgos Vrettakos attacked the spokesperson for EL.A.S. of Alexis Tsipras, accusing him of hypocrisy regarding taxation and recalling the taxes imposed by the SYRIZA government.

Vrettakos: Citizens must not forget the past

A fierce attack on SYRIZA was launched by New Democracy MP, Giorgos Vrettakos, speaking on the program “Ora Ellados” on OPEN, in response to the opposition’s criticism of the government’s tax policy.

George Vrettakos commented that it is ironic to accuse the government of “oppressive tax practices”—the spokesperson for Alexis Tsipras’s party—recalling that, as he said, during SYRIZA’s time in government, 30 taxes and social security contributions were imposed, while taxes were raised on wage earners, pensioners and self-employed professionals.

At the same time, the New Democracy MP countered that the current government has implemented reduction of 83 taxes, arguing that the comparison between the two periods is clear. “Citizens must not forget the past,” he remarked, urging them to evaluate policies based on each government’s track record.
