In the guilty verdict handed down for 57 of the total 58 defendants farmers and livestock farmers from Crete, the Athens Three-Member Misdemeanor Court reached its decision.
By a majority vote , the court acquitted a producer, accepting her independent claim for the elimination of criminal liability, because she returned, with interest, the sums of money she had received, which are estimated at around 30 thousand euros.
For some of the convicted individuals , the court amended the charges and reduced the amounts of the subsidies listed in the original indictment.
According to the indictment filed by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the individuals involved are alleged to have received illegal subsidies amounting to thousands of euros from OPEKEPE, for land that they declared in Kastoria as pastureland and olive and almond groves.
The defendants did not appear in court and were represented by their attorneys, who requested that mitigating circumstances be recognized.
The court adjourned until July 1 to rule on the mitigating circumstances and the sentences to be imposed.”>https:=”” www.iefimerida.gr=”” ella…
