Hezbollah in reference to the agreement signed between Israel – Lebanon and is once again stirring up tensions.
In a message, Hezbollah Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem expressed the strong disagreement of the pro- Iranian military organization regarding the agreement Israel–Lebanon agreement in the presence of the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. Among the terms of the bilateral agreement is the disarmament of Hezbollah.
“The Lebanese Authority (i.e., the Lebanese government) legitimizes the ongoing presence of the occupiers for many years and may even go so far as to annex these territories to the Zionist entity,” was the message from Sheikh Naim Qassem. “Linking Israel’s withdrawal to the disarmament of the resistance is an extremely dangerous proposal that crosses every line,” he emphasized.
Threats of Retribution
In a threatening tone directed at the Lebanese government, Sheikh Naim Qassem said: “We did not abandon the battlefield under the most difficult conditions, and we will not abandon it.” “The framework agreement in Washington is a humiliation, a disgrace, and a surrender of sovereignty,” he emphasized. “Direct negotiations amount to clear and unconditional concessions to Israel, because these are meetings aimed at forcing submission to the enemy’s demands,” Sheikh Naim Kassem emphasized.
Raising the tone even further and addressing the Lebanese government, Sheikh Naim Kassem said: “You have stabbed the Resistance in the back by declaring it outlawed. You have cast it out of the heart of the Arab world, and you did so from the very beginning, choosing to impose a threatening decision upon us.” “The time has come to atone for your sins that are destroying Lebanon,” said Sheikh Naim Qassem in the same threatening tone, addressing the country’s government.
New attacks in southern Lebanon
Sheikh Naim Qassem’s statements reveal the intentions of the pro- pro-Iranian Islamist military organization, at a time when attacks against the Israeli army are raging.
In response to the strikes, the Israeli military announced that it carried out an airstrike today against alleged militants in the Nabatiya area of southern Lebanon, the first of its kind since Washington announced a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israeli military spokesperson told Agence France-Presse that the strike targeted “alleged terrorists who posed a threat to Israeli soldiers” in the Nabatiya area.
