The fire that broke out in a forested area in Spathari, Euboea.
According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out shortly after 4:00 p.m., with no homes or infrastructure threatened so far.
Fifty-four firefighters, along with a foot patrol team from the 20th EMODE unit and 21 vehicles, are working to extinguish the fire, while 8 aircraft and 3 helicopters have been deployed from the air, one of which is coordinating the operation. Local government water tankers are providing support.
It should be noted that the area where the fire broke out today, according to the fire risk map, is at very high risk (Category 4). Meanwhile, the Evia Arson Crimes Investigation Unit is heading to the fire site to investigate its causes.
Finally, according to the Fire Department, throughout the incident, ESKEDIK is receiving continuous footage from the drone via visual and thermal cameras.
